President Tinubu abolished the Niger Delta Ministry upon repeating role with the Niger Delta Development Commission

President Bola Tinubu has scrapped the Niger Delta Ministry, Saharareporters can report.

“The Niger Delta ministry was scrapped by the president because there is also the Niger Delta Development Commission,” government sources told Saharareporters on Thursday They will take it to NDDC.

“Tinubu has abolished the Niger Delta Ministry.

President Tinubu on Wednesday released the list of his ministers and their departments.

The President also created some new ministries while changing the names of some existing ministries including the Ministry of Environment and Ecological Management, the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, and the Ministry included gas resources.

There is also the Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy formerly known as the Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.

The Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development is now the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and will be headed by Betta Edu.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports Development was divided into two —the Ministry of Youth and the Ministry of Sports Development.

In May, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu called on President Tinubu to abolish the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.

He described the ministry’s actions as a copy of the Niger Delta Development Commission.

“Some ministries and parastatals that are no longer viable such as the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and some other ministries that are not viable should be abolished,” he said.

We also have the Niger Delta Development Commission as we have the Northeast Development Commission. Therefore, the Niger Delta Ministry should be abolished,” he said.
