Taiwo, the estranged wife of former President Olusegun Obasanjo, has reacted angrily to a disclaimer made by the former leader, subtly questioning her sanity and stating that although she had fathered two children for him, she was not his wife .
The controversy started on Sunday when Taiwo waded into the controversy following the statement made by the former Army General in Iseyin, Oyo State, during the commissioning last week of projects executed by the state Governor, Seyi Makinde.
Obasanjo, who was special guest of honour, had at the event chastised some Yoruba traditional rulers for not standing up to pay respects to him as a former president. He therefore commanded them to arise and recognize his presence.
In a statement on Sunday, titled “Oyo Kings: A Plea for Forgiveness,” Mrs. Obasanjo, who has two children – Olujonwo and Olubunmi – pleaded with the former President, “for permanent and eternal forgiveness and pardon of all Yoruba sons and – daughters worldwide. , fathers and mothers, youths, teenagers and children, Christians, Muslims, traditional worshippers, all leaders in Yoruba land and the Council of Kings in Yoruba land”. In a swift response, Obasanjo said through his Special Assistant on Media, Kehinde Akinyemi, the “the much-praised Mrs. Obasanjo is an impostor”.
“For the record, Mrs. Martins has two children, Jonwo and Bunmi, for Chief Obasanjo, but to state emphatically that she is not his wife nor a member of the Obasanjo family.
