The squad numbers for Chelsea’s summer additions for the 2023-24 season have been confirmed, with many current players having their squad numbers changed ahead of the season. World Cup Champion Enzo Fernandez will now wear the number 8 jersey, while Mykhailo Mudryk will wear the number 10. Nkunku, a France international, was the first new player to arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer. He now wears the number 18 jersey. Nicolas Jackson, a fellow attacker who joined from Villarreal, will wear the number 15. Axel Disasi, a defender who recently completed a transfer from Monaco, has been given the number 2 shirt. Robert Sanchez, a goalkeeper acquired from Brighton, will wear the number 31.
Malo Gusto, who joined the team this summer after moving from Lyon in January, has been given squad number 27. Young midfielders Lesley Ugochukwu and Andrey Santos will be numbered 20 and 16 respectively. Many players have switched numbers ahead of the new season as a result of several squad numbers left vacant this summer after players left Stamford Bridge. Chelsea’s latest number 7 is Raheem Sterling, who previously wore number 17 after joining from Manchester City. Prior to the start of the new campaign, Noni Madueke chose jersey number 11. Benoit Badiashile wears 5, Carney Chukwuemeka wears 17, Marc Cucurella wears 3 and Armando Broja wears 19.
John Terry made number 26 famous at Chelsea, but now Levi Colwill has taken it over. This summer, Ian Maatsen was added to the first-team squad after a good performance in the pre-season. The number of the versatile Dutchman will be 29.
